Riding Requirement

On a day-long trek in scenic but rugged terrain, riders must meet criteria for their own and our horses' safety.

  • Intermediate riding level due to the length and terrain of our rides.

  • Firm seat with soft hands.

  • Comfortable at a walk, posting trot, and two-point canter.

  • Riding in a group at all paces over varied terrain.

  • Basic horsemanship skills such as catching, grooming, leading, and tacking up.

  • Mount and dismount with minimal aid. (You can use a well-placed rock or log if needed.)

  • Physically fit to be in the saddle for 3–4 hours, or 10–15 miles a day.

If you do not feel that you meet this criteria or do not ride regularly, please visit our FAQ page. This will explain why we require skills such as a posting trot and a two-point canter. You can always contact us with any questions regarding riding ability.

rOOM RATES AND DISCOUNTS

  • In order to avoid charging a single supplement, we offer the private rooms on a first-book, first-served basis. The two upstairs rooms are private but do share a bathroom. The downstairs room has two full beds and an en-suite bathroom. We try to accommodate couples or traveling friends in the downstairs room. If you book the downstairs room for two people and one person in your party cancels, your reservation will be considered a solo traveler, and you may be sharing the room with another solo traveler.

  • The downstairs can be booked by a solo traveler with the understanding that they may have a roommate (of the same gender) for the week. If two solo travelers are booked downstairs, each person will receive a 5% discount on their package rate.

  • There are never more than four occupants in the guest house at a time. We will let you know at the time of booking what rooms we have available.

  • Group Rates: Groups of 3 people will receive a 10% discount per person. Groups of 4 people will receive a 15% discount per person. We can accept strong novice riders in a group with the understanding that the rides will be walk/trot only.

  • Pay-up-front discount: You can also pay the full payment at booking for a 10% discount. This would be non-refundable. Please let us know that you will be paying in full before we send you an invoice, so we can apply this discount.

  • Only one discount can be used at booking. Wrangler packages are not subject to discounts since they are already deeply discounted.

  • Non-Riding Booking: We can accommodate non-riding bookings at full price.

PAYMENT rEMINDERS and cancellation policy

  • We require a 25% non-refundable deposit to hold the booking dates. The final payment is due no later than 6 weeks prior to arrival.

  • Cancellation Policy: All payments are non-refundable but may be applied to a future visit within one year.

  • Rebooking Policy: If you need to rebook after the 6-week mark, the rebooking fee is 10% of your package price. Rebooking can be applied to a future date within one year.

  • We strongly suggest travel insurance.

  • Our paperwork is vital to planning our riding weeks. Please fill out the Rider Application before paying your deposit so that we can make sure we are the best fit for your riding vacation.
